An Afternoon Acacia (Kenya) This is the view from the veranda of the Guest House at Katumani, the Kenya Dryland Farming Research Institute.	Moonlight Over Maui (Maui, Hawaii) The night descends on Maui, bringing an invitation for a walk on the beach.	Evening at Wailea Beach (Wailea Beach, Hawaii) Some of the islands best snorkeling occurs here, among the coral, tropical fish, and sea turtles.
Western Haleakala (Hawaii) The volcano last erupted in 1790, and there the lava rock remains barren.  But in thousands of years, it will look like this, ripe for golf courses and hotels.	Two Brothers (Hawaii) As the story has it, two brothers went off to war.  Before they went, they planted two palm trees atop a peak on this island, asking their parents to remember them always if they did not return.  Now, there are many palms on the peak, as return they did. Home on an Indian River (Southern India) The frame of this houseboat may be 100 years old, but the upper decks are reconstructed every few years with new rope and wood. Rope is made of coir--from the husk of the coconut--while the thatching is from the palm fronds.	Japanese Garden (Tokyo, Japan) International House, Tokyo. The Japanese garden is to a pastel artist what duck season is to a hunter. So much choice, so little time.	The Alhambra Blues (Granada, Spain) Built in the 14th century on the Cerro del Sol overlooking the city of Granada, this was the last fortress of the Moorish Kings of Spain, who were great patrons of the arts.
